My mom being with me for my 21st birthday is the only thing I asked for. Just about a year ago, she was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Doctors said the chances of survival past a year was under 8 percent. Thinking about not having a mother for my 21st birthday was the hardest thing I have ever been through, and this past year was really tough on my body and soul. I kept my head high with the support of friends and family, and I can officially say I have my mother for my 21st birthday.
